Five new graduates to the British Land Alpine Ski Team

The British Ski and Snowboard Federation, today announce the 16 strong British Ski Team for season 2006-2007. The team which includes Olympians Chemmy Alcott, Finlay Mickel, Alain Baxter, James Leuzinger, and Noel Baxter welcomes five young athletes whom have graduated from the successful home nations development programme to full team status.

The selection of Daniel Berry (19, England), David Ryding (19, England), Peter Whelan (16, England), Kenneth Morton (19, Scotland) and Pamela Thorburn (20, Scotland) is very encouraging for the future and commenting on the selection Mark Tilston, Head Coach states:

It s very positive for me to see 5 young athletes coming from the development squad to the team. It s the first time in several years that we had such a strong group coming up, particularly since qualification criteria were raised a couple of years ago. This demonstrates both their level of athleticism and professional attitude to be performing at this level and it reflects the same qualities in the effectiveness of the development programme
